Meal Plan Monday (7/23-7/28)

Hello hello and happy Monday!

I am currently writing this post while casually looking at the gorgeous flowers I picked up for Ian’s birthday yesterday. I know that typically guys buy girls flowers.. but who said that guys don’t want flowers on their birthdays?? Ian was absolutely stoked when I surprised him with these and cinnamon roll waffles for breakfast yesterday.. but more on that later (as in, I will be posting about it later this week). Besides, I am really digging having bright flowers nearby while I work. It has made my Monday feel a little sunnier πŸ™‚ Maybe I should buy flowers more often..

Anywho, I have a lot I would like to recap with you all BUT I also want to share my meal plan for the week! I have been talking a lot with my family and friends about food/cooking/health and after my sister asked me to send her a meal plan a few weeks ago.. it hit me. Why not just share my meal plan for the week on here?

That all being said, I am going to give posting my meal plans on here a shot. If this is something that you guys want me to continue posting, please let me know and I will. I hope this helps those of you looking to plan your grocery list for the week.

But first,

Why meal plan?

For those of you who do not already know this about me, I LOVE grocery stores. Yes, I am weird. I love strolling down delicious aisles of food and imagining all of the meals I am going to eat in the week to come. The problem with my love for grocery stores? I can get a little too excited in them. Kale? Yeah, I think I’ll eat that. Ohhh this cereal looks awesome, I’ll eat that too!Β And before I know it, my shopping cart is full and my wallet is empty. I can’t be trusted in grocery stores.

To save my wallet and food from being wasted, I like to plan ahead before heading to the grocery store. Granted, sometimes I just don’t have the time and have to wing it, but for the most part I always make sure to have a plan. It has really helped me from splurging on random crackers or junk I just don’t need to eat.

Lastly, meal planning has also helped me with meal creativity. Sometimes when I head out to the grocery store with no plan in mind, I end up in a food rut where I just buy the same ingredients over and over again. I am a creature of habit.. so I can and will eat the same thing every single day if someone does not stop me (thanks Ian!).

SO, why do I mean plan? To save money, avoid buying junk and wasting food, and to add variety and excitement to the food I eat.

  1. Meal plans now that’s something I should do! I don’t think I have the organizational skills to do a whole week but I will try a few days worth.

    1. Even just planning a few days can be really helpful! Sometimes I like to make a little extra and use those leftovers for the days I haven’t planned πŸ™‚
