I love how it is currently Thursday evening and I am just getting started on writing a weekend recap. This upcoming weekend is precisely one day away and here I am. *Sigh* Well! Better late than never, am I right?
So let’s get to it!
A Jazzy Start to the Weekend
Saturday started off pretty low-key. Ian and I slept in a little and made smoothies while taking it slow in the morning. Once we were dressed and ready to face the world, we threw ourselves into the chaos that is – the Nike Factory .. during a sale. I am not going to lie, it was absolutely awful. I felt like it was Black Friday.. but in the middle of July. There were swarms of people and everyone was just flat out aggressive. I was looking at a pair of sneakers and turned to Ian and said,” I don’t think they have my size.. but this one might do” and just as I went to get the box, a woman who was standing behind me this entire time, darted in front of me, snatched the box I was about to grab, and scurried away. Ian and I just looked at each other in amazement. Well, it’s safe to say that I did not end up purchasing those shoes π
Anyway, you all probably get the picture. It was a mad house and we were not about it.. but the 30% off of already reduced Nike items sure was nice. I did end up leaving with two pairs of sneakers. One for long distance running since I was overdue for new sneakers, and another pair of trainers. The sale was pretty nice. The people? Not so much!
After the madness, Ian and I decided to walk around Pioneer Courthouse Square for two hours and then head to Ian’s favorite restaurant in Portland, Fire on the Mountain, or as we call it, FOTM.
We had plans to spend Ian’s birthday, which was on Sunday, with his family at his parents’ house. So, Saturday was Ian and I’s day to celebrate together. And for his birthday dinner, he wanted FOTM, so FOTM it was!
After FOTM, we headed back to our apartment to pick up Winston and were then off to Cathedral Park’s Jazz Festival!
Conveniently enough, I have been dying to go to Cathedral Park AND to a Jazz Festival for a while now, so this was absolutely perfect. The weather was absolutely gorgeous, the park was beautiful, and the jazz music set the most wonderful vibe. I was so so happy.
And so was Winston! He was honestly just so happy to get so much attention after having us gone during the day. I mean, people were coming up to him and petting him the entire time we were there. By the end of the night he was pooped from all the love he got. It was awesome.
It was such a wonderful time that I just had to snap pics to capture the moments we had there π I still have a few photos that I need to pull from my camera (these photos are all from my phone), but I love how all of the photos turned out.
Gosh I just love these two β€
We had an absolute blast there. It was some of the most fun free entertainment we have had in a while. I wish that every weekend had a free outdoor festival and perfect weather to hangout in!
Ian’s Birthday
The next morning, I slept in a little but tried my best to get up before Ian and head to the grocery store near our apartment to pick up a few things to make Ian a surprise birthday breakfast.
And oh boy was he surprised! I made cinnamon roll waffles, hickory smoked bacon, and and over easy egg. Is this something we should be eating everyday? Oh definitely not! But hey, it was his birthday and I wanted to celebrate π
Safe to say, this breakfast was an absolute success. Ian raved about it for days!
After breakfast, we headed over to his parents’ home and celebrated with the rest of his family. I always love getting together with family, so I had an absolute blast getting to celebrate Ian getting older with everyone that loves him too!
And as for the cake? Oh my gosh was it good! Ian’s mom made a chocolate coconut cake and it was out of this world. If I hadn’t already eaten so much that weekend, I may have tried to eat the entire thing!!
So there you have it, our weekend in a nutshell π I would say that Ian’s birthday weekend was a huge success!
Now your turn!
~ What did you do this past weekend?
